Adult Themes:
Hello my lovely and talented players!
I've had a few questions from players and potential players about what the policy of the board is regarding adult themes (primarily relating to sex and excessive violence or criminal deviancy). I'm glad you asked, and let me make a few things clear.
1- This is a board designed for adults. While it's neigh impossible to verify age over the internet, the intention is that you are legally an adult and are playing here under that assumption.
2- If you have a scene that you think is about to go 'dark' or 'adult', please either edit the original post thread to include the (NSFW) tag, or if you can't, ask Admin or I to do so. Please use common sense; this doesn't relate purely to sexual content.
3- If you are lurking in a scene and things start going in a way that doesn't make you comfortable, please stop lurking in that scene. It's reasonable to PM the players involved and ask them to take it to a private forum, but beyond that is rude as you weren't involved in that scene.
4- If a scene starts to go a place that you as a player don't like, or makes you feel squiky, that scene will immediately stop and proceed to "Fade to Black". A fade to black scene is when the storytellers take over and resolve in the scene in as clinical a way as possible. It is also perfectly acceptable to "Fade to Black" on a consensual scene where you just don't want to RP the nitty-gritty details of whatever. Example: Two characters are about to be intimate in the biblical sense. Player A starts to post about something graphic. Player B doesn't care for it, but their character would continue. It's perfectly reasonable to declare a Fade to Black and as players agree that some sexual stuff happened and not go into details.
5- The best guideline here is 'be respectful'. Be respectful of other players. Be respectful of the space. Be respectful of the themes of this game. The game's intention is to be dark. You are literally playing Hell imprisoned Demons. Your characters have done terrible atrocities in the past, or witnessed them. The game is designed to explore some of those themes and express parts of yourself that might otherwise be uncouth to do so.
That's basically it. I'm not writing hard/fast rules for what is and isn't acceptable on the boards. I'm going to default to a 'this is ok, post on' sort of mentality for the most part and adopt a common-sense approach to scenes that might be explicit in their content.
(I also hate lurking on scenes that I'm not involved in, even as an ST. Don't assume I've seen what you've been writing or what others have been RPing. I mind my business till I'm invoked)

Re: Adult Themes:
Questions Please (Cause I love writing both erotica and uber violence)
If sexy times aren't relevant to plot can we just move to PM's or something so it isn't on the public forum? (Don't know why I would ask that one *clears throat*)
If we write a lit that contains adult themes can we give a "View Discretion is Advised, the following contains (bullet points of horrible things)"?
If something comes up in plot that is super horrible, can the PC request to write it, then post it with ST approval? Like for me, I will do HORRIBLE stuff to my characters if its needed for plot purposes.

Re: Adult Themes:
I would personally avoid moving to PMs as the board doesn't store very many of them, and if you ever want to reference what your character knows/has done, that's a faulty method. But yes, we have a Private Areas forum set up, and we (mostly Admin) can move threads there, or set up channels in that area viewable to only a few characters.
For lits, just add some sort of tag signifying that there is content of a mature nature, and then have at it. I don't mind read porn or torture porn, but I don't want to do it on my work computer.
I... don't think I've ever been asked that before. But, yes, if there's plot that's heading a dark way for a character, and you have a great idea that you want to write it, I love sharing the burden. I can't rubber stamp it immediately, but you can definitely write something to submit for approval.
(you're excellent, by the way)

Re: Adult Themes:
<3 Thank you sir!<3
Allowing characters to write their own PC's darkness is an idea we came up with when I was running a Werewolf game. I found that if players had a little more control over the bad OOC it caused less drama OOC...and usually the posts were more depraved then anything I could think up.
One of the most horrible, heart wrenching and truly frightening things I ever read was one of my players PC Glasswalkers falling to the Wyrm. My writing prompt was 'Its the weavers fault, it always has been! The weaver is the one who trapped the wyrm, the wyrm is just trying to destroy the world so it can go back to the cycle'. What came next....chills.
